Update: 3 Victims In Trenton Shootings Identified

UPDATED: Three murder victims from Sunday's shootings in Trenton have been identified, authorities said Monday.

Police responded to five shootings in four hours throughout the city, starting about 5 p.m. at Martin Luther King Park, according to a statement from the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.

The first fatal shooting victim from MLK Park was identified as 20-year-old Frederick Mason of Trenton, the statement said.

A large group of people were at a basketball court in the park when several suspects approached from Bond Street and fired into the group through an empty lot, the statement said. As many as 40 shots were fired. A man was struck in the chest and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. A second men was struck in the chest and remains hospitalized, authorities said.

While detectives were investigating the homicide at MLK Park, another shooting occurred in the 100 block of Hoffman Avenue at about 7 p.m., authorities said. A large group of people there were gathering to watch a street fight between two women. Another woman was standing on the sidewalk watching the fight when a suspect approached her from the street and shot her in the head. 

Then around 9 p.m., another shooting occurred in the 400 block of Garfield Avenue. Several people were hanging out in the area when a vehicle drove down the street and fired numerous rounds, authorities said. One victim was struck in the hand, a second victim was struck in the leg, and a third victim was struck in the head. These three victims were taken  to the hospital for treatment. While officers were securing the scene and locating evidence, they located a fourth victim in the backyard of the one of the houses on Garfield Avenue. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the prosecutor's statement said.

The second fatal shooting victim was identified as 30-year-old Dabree Brannon of Trenton, according to a statement on Monday. 

Later Monday, the third shooting victim was identified as Quamierah Massey, 24, of Trenton. She had been clinging to life in critical condition at the hospital, but was pronounced dead Monday afternoon.

The investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made.

"We lost our humanity," Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora told the Trentonian in a text message late Sunday. "May be retaliatory. And emotions have just boiled over today."

In an unrelated incident, state investigators are reviewing the death of an emotionally disturbed Trenton man taken into custody by police outside a local hospital on Friday.

Two weeks ago, Trenton had two daylight killings in three days.
